AoC Big Box

Welcome to AoC Big box.

I have been playing the game since November 2010, mainly on US-realms (on Set), but you can find me on european realms too (Crom). My main’s name, on Set, is Shehina and my main’s name on Crom is Scorpyo.

I came from World of Warcraft to Age of Conan, so there were really many new things to learn. One of the things I had to learn was to fight. The fights in Age of Conan are very unique and can be difficult to master. When you have learned it, you won’t be able to do without.

I was used to that my level 80′s in Warcraft (I had 9 levels 80 and one level 78 when I stopped) could take almost anything, and when I was leveling a new character, it went pretty quick, I had both the gear and the knowledge. It was a real big change in AoC, when I began to die pretty often, when I found out that even though I was a couple of levels higher than the mobs, it didn’t meant I could take more than a couple at once. I was real surprised when my level 70 assassin was beaten by a level 50′ish elite mob. It was a group-quest in the tavern i Old Tarantia. Really good quest reward that I had hoped to solo. In AoC, when they tell you it is a group quest, they generally mean it!

Then there is the economy which is very different. First of all, there are four currencies: tin, copper, silver and gold and the prices are much lower that I was used too. Just one gold is pretty much.

A great advantage is that Age of Conan is a mature game. Mature by its nature: death are pretty much graphical and many allusions to sex aren’t just allusion. But mature also because much of it can be pretty much complicated. It is a real pleasure to play with adults and not being arguing in a dungeon against a six year’s old.

So Age of Conan is a very complete game. You can begin to play very quickly, because it is very intuitive, but you will need some time to learn all the subtleties of the game.

This is why I made this blog – AoC Big Box: I needed help when I started and had troubles finding it on the net. Happily I found a real good guild with helpful people who are very willing to answer all my questions and I thought it could be a good idea to help other.

I named this blog AoC Big Box because in Age of Conan, when you have killed a mob, you will not loot the corpse, but a bag that will drop beside the body (if there is any loot, of course). If the loot is just standard loot, it will be in a bag.

If it is better than just trashloot, it will be in a box. If the loot contains blue gear or recipe or anything rare, it will be a nice box of light, polished tree.

And if the loot contains epic items, it will be a real big box made of oak. The so called “epic box”. But between players, we just call it a “big box”.
